Sin dal 1944, per oltre dieci anni, l’Orchestra di Ritmi Moderni diretta da Francesco Ferrari è stata l’unica grande formazione della Radio italiana con repertorio incentrato sul jazz. Formata da ottimi musicisti dalla tecnica impeccabile, leggera e swingante, fu l’unica a rimanere unita per oltre dieci anni con lo stesso organico e lo stesso direttore e consegnò alla storia una serie di ottime esecuzioni, in larga parte arrangiate o trascritte dallo stesso Ferrari.

From  the end of World War II and for more than a decade, the Orchestra di Ritmi Moderni led by Francesco Ferrari has been the sole Italian Radio big band with a decidedly jazz repertoire. A good band of talented instrumentalists and soloists with flowless, light and swing   tecnique, was the only one to stick together for years with the same musicians and the same director and delivered a bunch of excellent performances, mostly arranged or transcribed by Ferrari himself.
